REGISTRATION ANSWERS

I registered, but never received a confirmation email. What do I do?   Back to Help

Please be patient as it may take up to an hour to process your registration request. If you have not received your confirmation email within an hour, there are a few possible explanations.  Your local email server may be busy.  You may have entered an incorrect or misspelled email address in the registration form.  Or, you may have Bidville's emails blocked from your mail server, please make sure to also check your "bulk" mailbox.

The best thing to do is request your confirmation email again by Clicking Here.  If you do not receive this confirmation in the next 24 hours, you may want to contact Bidville using the Contact Us form.

Does Bidville require my credit card when I register?   Back to Help

You can register with Bidville without using a credit card.  However, if you plan on selling items, you will be asked for a valid credit card number in order to post auctions.

How do I update my registration information?   Back to Help

You may update your personal registration information at any time by visiting Bidville's Edit Personal Information page.  You will be required to Sign In before accessing this area.

What do I do if I forget my password?   Back to Help

Go to the Forgot My Password section of Bidville. There you will be asked to provide your registered Nickname or Email Address. You will then be sent an email (within 1 hour) that will contain step by step instructions on how to resolve your password problems.

Can I change my Bidville Nickname/Username?   Back to Help

You may change your Nickname/Username at any time by visiting Bidville's Edit Personal Information page.  You will be required to Sign In before accessing this area.

Bidville discourages members from frequently changing their Nickname as it is how others come to recognize you.  Continuously changing your Nickname might lead other members to believe that you have something to hide.  You should choose a Nickname that will suit you for the long duration of your membership with Bidville.

I want to change my email address. Do I have to register again?   Back to Help

If you would like to change your email address, you may do so by visiting Edit Personal Information page.  You will be required to Sign In before accessing this area.  You do not need to register again and doing so may cause problems with your account.

BIDDING ANSWERS

Is it possible to lower or retract my bid?   Back to Help

At this time, it is not possible to lower or retract a bid once it is placed.  Please be very careful when you bid and only place bids that you intend to follow through with.

After I place a bid, can I increase my maximum bid (proxy bid)?   Back to Help

Yes. As long as the auction has not closed, you may submit a new maximum bid.

Where can I get more information about the seller?   Back to Help

You can easily learn more about the seller by browsing through their feedback profile. This is an excellent way to find out about a seller's trading habits and prior dealings on Bidville. You may also visit a seller's "About Me" page to see what information they provide about themselves.

Why didn't my bid appear on the item's auction page
?
   Back to Help

Your bid will not be recorded if you do not properly complete the following steps:
  • After reviewing the item(s) you want to bid on, enter your maximum bid amount, nickname and password in the spaces provided. Then click on "Review Bid".
  • Review your information and click on the "Submit this Bid" button.
Upon completing these first two steps, you should be taken to a bid confirmation page where you will be notified if you are the current high bidder.

Will the system allow me to bid against myself?   Back to Help

No, bidders are not able to bid against themselves.  If you attempt to place a bid against yourself, you may end up raising your maximum proxy bid, but your current bid will not be affected.

Why am I immediately outbid every time I place a bid?   Back to Help

This means that another bidder has placed a maximum (proxy) bid higher than yours. As soon as your bid was confirmed, our system raised the other member's bid above yours just enough to make them the current highest bidder.

How will I know if I am outbid?   Back to Help

We will send an email to notify you if you have been outbid. It is in your best interest to visit Bidville periodically due to possible delays with emails.

Why did my bid jump up so high?   Back to Help

If you are bidding in a Reserve auction and you set your maximum bid at a price that is equal or higher than the seller's reserve price, your bid will automatically be raised to meet it. For example, a seller sets a minimum bid at $20 and a reserve price at $50. If you set your maximum bid at $70, your bid will automatically jump to $50 and it will be noted that the reserve price has been met.

Another situation where your bid might jump is when another bidder places a higher maximum bid. Our system will automatically place your bid, up to your set maximum bid, on your behalf.

What if I cannot contact the seller?   Back to Help

Please be patient as the seller may have encountered a personal emergency or has been unable to respond to his/her email.  If you are unable to contact the seller within a reasonable amount of time, we encourage you to leave appropriate feedback to warn others.

What do I do if the seller decides not to sell the item?   Back to Help

Although we do encourage buyers and sellers to follow through with their business obligations, Bidville cannot force anyone to complete a transaction if they choose not to. If this situation does occur, bidders are encouraged to take action by leaving suitable feedback for the seller to warn others.

Is there a limit to the number of items I can bid on?   Back to Help

New members are limited to bidding on 10 items per 10 day period.  This restriction was put into effect to help protect our sellers from malicious "deadbeat" bidders.  The 10 item restriction is removed if you become a Verified Member.  Or, it is removed when you achieve an overall feedback rating of at least +1.  Once this happens, you are free to bid on as many items as you wish.

First, you need to register with us by filling out the Registration Form.  Then, you will have to "verify" your membership by placing a valid credit card on file with us.

Are there any other fees to use Bidville?   Back to Help

There are no Listing Fees on Bidville. There are Final Success Fees (FSFs). However, there are many optional fees that you may or may not decide to incur.  There are optional fees for placing your auction in the Photo Gallery or Featured area of Bidville.  There are also fees to make your auction title BOLD or add a Gift Icon to your item.

When you post an auction, Bidville makes it very clear which services are optional.  If you decide not to use any of these services, simply bypass them on the form.  In that case, your listing will be completely free.

What types of payment will Bidville accept?   Back to Help

Once you have created a Seller Account, Bidville will have your valid credit card on checking account on file.  It will be used for routine payment of any fees you have accumulated.  We will send notification of any fees associated with your account twice per month via email.  On the 1st and 15th of each month, your credit card will be charged for any fees owed to Bidville totaling $1 or more.  If you owe less than $1 we will not charge your card, but the balance will carry over to the next billing period.

You will also be charged any time you accumulate over $10 in optional enhancement fees. This charge will happen on the same day you accumulate the fees, not on the 1st or 15th of the month.

Once the auctions starts, is it possible to revise my item information?   Back to Help

As long as no bids have been placed on your auction, you can edit or change any information by visiting the TrackPal section of Bidville.  Doing so will require that you are signed in first.  Then, click on the Edit Open Auctions link.  Another way to edit your item is to visit the auction's details page.  If you are currently signed in, you will see the option to edit the auction in the Bidding Box on the right side of the page.

Once the bidding has started, it is impossible to change any features of the auction. You may, however, add new information to the item's description.  For this reason, Bidville asks you to review your information before submitting your auction.

How do I end my auction early?   Back to Help

As a seller, should you decide not to sell your item, you may close your auction early by visiting the TrackPal section of Bidville.  Doing so will require that you are signed in first.  Then, click on the End an Auction Early link.  Another way to end an auction is to visit the auction's details page.  If you are currently signed in, you will see the option to end the auction in the Bidding Box on the right side of the page.

Be advised, if your auction has received bids, you are obligated to sell the item to the highest bidder (provided the Reserve Price was met).

What do I do if I am unable to contact the winning bidder?   Back to Help

If you are unable to contact the winning bidder within a reasonable amount of time (we suggest 3 business days as not everyone responds to his/her email daily), you may offer your item to your second-highest bidder. However, you will not be able to post feedback for the second-highest bidder.  You may leave appropriate feedback about the winning bidder though. Please click here to apply for a FSF Refund.

What is a "fixed price" item?    Back to Help

A fixed price item is when the seller sets the minimum bid and the Take It Price at the same amount.  When this occurs, bidding is not possible for the item.  The first bid will meet the Take It Price and the item will be sold at that price.  Therefore, we call these items "fixed price".

You may also notice that these items do not always display an Ending Date.  This is because the item will be listed until there is a winner.  Since bidding is not really possible, there is no need to end this auction at a specific time.  The first bid wins.
